For the past four years I’ve been attending the Sarasota Exotic Car Festival (formerly known as the Ferrari’s on St. Armand’s car show) held at the St. Armand’s Circle shopping center in Sarasota, Florida. This show marks the first event of the Ferrari Club of America (FCA) Florida Region’s calendar year. Every year since I’ve been attending it gets bigger and bigger. You can almost guarantee that there will be something pretty special on display at the show each and every year, like the very rare black Ferrari Enzo on display this year, which belongs to Sarasota’s own Steve White of SS Motorsports of Sarasota (http://www.carsbyss.com/).
In 2007, the two stars of the show were a yellow Ferrari Enzo owned by a local man from Venice, FL and a sunburst orange Saleen S7 Twin Turbo. A year later both of those cars were in attendance along with a very rare Ford GTX1 and one of only two (at the time) white Porsche Carrera GT’s in the U.S. Last year’s show featured one of the world’s fastest production cars in the Bugatti Veyron and a stunning white Lamborghini Gallardo with a twin turbo application courtesy of hometown hero Heffner Performance (http://www.heffnersperformance.com/.)
This year’s show certainly didn’t disappoint either. The two standouts for me were the new, rear-wheel drive only Lamborghini Gallardo LP550-2 Balboni, and the since retired from racing Ferrari 333 SP, a car that only surrenders the best lap time around Ferrari’s world famous Fiorano test circuit in Maranello, Italy to the blindingly quick Ferrari Formula 1 cars. I had the honor of meeting Lamborghini’s legendary test driver, Valentino Balboni, the man who now has this car named after him.
A few of my personal favorites were the red twin turbocharged (!!!!) Ferrari 360 Challenge Stradale, which happens to be my all-time favorite car, a beautiful Alfa Romeo 8C Competizione, an orange Lamborghini Superleggera, Rolls Royce’s stunning Ghost, a new car which has yet to reach customers’ hands, and an absolutely gorgeous blue Ferrari 360 Modena with Scuderia wheels parked in the valet area along with a Ferrari California, Lamborghini Gallardo Spider, and a BMW Z8.
Here are some more of my photos from the show. I hope you enjoy them as much as I enjoyed shooting them.
