Photoshoot: Ferrari 360 Spider

Holidays are the times of year when everyone comes together to enjoy good family, good faith, and good food. But what’s wrong with enjoying a good Ferrari? I don’t see anything wrong with spending some quality time with a topless redhead in my hometown of Sarasota, Florida. And that’s exactly what I did this Thanksgiving Day weekend. I met my new friend Jason through the Ferrari community’s Mecca of knowledge, FerrariChat.com. It’s the largest online Ferrari community in which both Jesse and I have met some amazing people and have had the opportunities to spend time with their amazing machines. So from our short online relationship, Jason and I chose a location to meet up, have some conversation, and get a few photos of his beautiful Ferrari 360 Spider.

Jason’s Ferrari, finished in an amazing Rosso Corsa paint, is a 2005 model which makes it fairly rare among the other 360 Spiders that were produced. The F430 was released in mid-2005, so production of the ‘05 360 Spiders was short lived, making this model year a little more desirable than previous years. Jason knew what he was looking for before he began his hunt to find that perfect Ferrari. At the top of his list was the iconic gated manual gearbox. To true Ferrari owners and enthusiasts, like myself, there is nothing greater than the click-clack sound of the driver navigating the gear lever to the proper ratio. It’s a shame that Ferrari will no longer offer a manual transmission as an option. But I can see why: only around 5% of new buyers during the F430 era opted for the traditional 6-speed manual gearbox. It just doesn’t make financial sense to keep producing that transmission, and now Ferrari can focus their attention on bringing their clients the fastest shifting paddle operated dual-clutch transmission available.

Some other options that are inside of Jason’s Ferrari are Daytona seats, black floor carpets with a red Ferrari Cavallino in the middle, Scuderia Ferrari shields, 5-spoke modular wheels, front and rear Challenge grills, and a 6-disc CD changer. Some aftermarket goodies have been applied as well. Two little blue lights installed on the steering column give away a built in K40 radar detector, and if you know your Ferraris you’ll instantly notice the Tubi Style exhaust system when Jason pulls up, or mashes the gas coming out of a turn.

This Ferrari is stunning in person. It’s an absolute classic that will be in high demand for years to come. That unmistakable red over tan color combination is enough to wet any car enthusiast’s whistle. The red brake calibers are a perfect match to the paint, and the rear Challenge grill with that shiny Prancing Horse not only looks phenomenal, but it helps to get rid of excess heat as well. The attention to detail on any Ferrari is amazing. The employees at the factory in Maranello, Italy put so much hard work into creating these rolling pieces of art. I know that I’m very appreciative of what they do, and I know the owners are too.

I would like to say a special thank you to Jason for taking the time out of his day to meet with me. It truly was a pleasure to have spent time with both you and your beautiful Ferrari. It was a perfect ending to a great holiday weekend and I can’t say enough about your generosity and love for your car. Thanks Jason!
