When it comes to cool cars this sure is one. Well, actually it’s not a “car” it’s a cool “SUV.” An SUV on my daily drive you say? What’s this about? What’s so special about this truck? The 6.1 Liter 425 HP Hemi- that’s what’s special! Oh what else makes it a rockin ride? 4WD that’s what!
So, you ask, what masterwork of American muscle is this? It’s the one and only Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT8. Power, speed, and looks; the power of a souped up muscle car, the speed of a super sedan by Cadillac (or Porsche for that matter), and the looks of – well a line backer in a fitted tux.
Man, Jeep needs to hire me to write their commercials that was a hot bit of pros.
Well, anyway, this is a cool ride. It sounds amazing- the center exhaust a la Porsche 911 GT3 is super sexy and man, what a launch- 0-60 in less than 5 seconds. Not bad for a sports car let alone an SUV.
I ran into a Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT8 owner at the car wash a while back. We talked about the truck and I said “It must be fun but with the 4WD you don’t get any wheel spin.” He was like “Man… turn the traction control off, mash down on the go petal and you can get all four wheels to spin with ease.”
Now that sounds fun!
When it comes to bang for the buck you can’t beat the Jeep. There are a few other 400+ HP, 4WD and four door options in the car / SUV market, but all the other cars with those kinds of performance numbers are over twice the price of the Jeep that comes in at around $45k.
In the wet or in the dry this ride is one to have and enjoy. No she’s not for off road shenanigans, but on the highway I’m sure you can give a Corvette or two a run for its money as they are looking in their rearview going what kind of Jeep is that?
