After a crazy action packed weekend of taking photos with my super magnificent iPhone 3Gs all 16 gigs were full! Filled with music, photos, videos, apps and, oh yes, more photos.
As I walk to my car Monday morning before my daily drive I’m thinking; “Don’t worry about your maxed out iPhone memory man. Next time you have a second you can empty out all those car pix and be back ready to shoot in no time. What are the chances that you are going to see a car in the next 30 min that’s Sooo cool that you just have to get a picture?”
Those are some famous last words.
About 15 min into my drive I’m on I 95 north and I see an unmistakable rear end. The rear end of a car guys, come on! It was nothing less then a Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren right in front of me. $450,000 of rolling super car leather, carbon fiber, and horsepower cursing down the highway begging to be photographed!
So, I had to change my plan of waiting to empty out my iPhone and get ready to squeeze in just a few more pix. I quickly erased some shots that I had of a white Porsche 911 Turbo Cabriolet. I’m sure I’ll see another one of those and probably soon. But this SLR is ultra rare, are you kidding me?! The SLR is powered by a 617-horsepower supercharged 5.5-liter V8 that catapults the SLR from zero to 60 miles per hour in under 3.8 seconds on its way to a top speed of over 200 mph.
The driver was chugging down the highway at a lawful if not slow 55 so I had to slow down and get the shot. Click click click on this side. Blinker change lanes. Click click on that side! Its like he and I were working on this photo shoot together. Maybe he saw me. I don’t think so. But I bet I’m not the first nor the last car nut to go crazy and want a shot of his ultra rare super car. I mean one doesn’t drive an SLR McLaren and expect to not be noticed.
So, the moral of the story- never leave the house with out your iPhone. No wait, the moral is never leave the house with out the iPhone primed and ready to take pix and even video. Because you never know when your going to see a $450,000 super duper car ten feet in front of you cursing down the street and no one would believe you with out a photo!
This is just another reason why I had to start this blog. The cars I see on a daily basis are just amazing!
