It was a Saturday just a few short weeks ago (well actually it was 10 days ago) when I arrived. BBQ in the air, the threat of rain looming, a plethora of cars all parked neatly into rows for me to drool over photograph. The leader of the pack tong’s in hand was manning the grill Super Mac Daddy BBQ Hamburger / Hot Dog jockey Fred was behind the flames getting the food ready. A bunch of friendly exotic car owners were in line with foam plates in hand waiting for burgers and dogs.
j2 and I went inside the show room which, while still under construction, has come a long way from where it was just a month ago. The white floor gleaming, the new turntables with a beautiful red Ferrari f 430 16M on it was getting its final work done, and yes, even more cars. After chatting with our friend Rene, the very nice sales associate, about the comings and goings of Ferrari Maserati of Fort Lauderdale and all the new cars they have coming (read 2010 Maserati GranCabrio) it was time to shoot some cars.
The first car that caught my eye was a beautiful blue Ferrari California. “Sold” it said on it. Darn, I was going to pick that one up. Then what’s this?- a white Ferrari 430 Scudria? Over here a black Ferrari 599 GTB! Yes, I was a kid in a candy store — a big expensive candy store.
After shooting the cars inside we went outside to check out the owner’s cars in the parking lot. Lots to see. And not just Ferrari’s. Like Rene had told us, its not Ferrari’s and coffee its “cars and coffee” all comers welcome. Along with the fabulous Ferraris from old to new there were some other cool exotics.
Starting with a black and proud Lotus Exige; 2 doors 2 sears tiny power packed fun house. No rear view mirror necessary. A black and daunting BMW M3 came to play. Ghost Rider was its name. The bulges and swells make the car appear to be a BMW thats hit they gym doing bench presses with Barry Bonds and The Rock. A baby blue Cayenne came, a neon green classic Porsche, a Ford GT, even a Rolls Royce Phantom arrived for the festivities. And of course, even more beautiful Ferraris of all years, ages, and colors.
You think if I gave out free burgers and hot dogs in my parking lot all these nice guys and their cool cars would come? I’ll have to give it a shot. But until then there is always the FMFL cars and coffee (BBQ), a cool event for any and all car lovers. Thanks to the participants for the hospitality. And thanks to Fred for the burgers!
