Home Sweet Home

I had a few days off work so I figured it would be nice to go home and spend some time with my parents over the weekend. Home, as you probably know by now, is in Sarasota, Florida. I love going home for a few days and just relaxing. I’ll usually take a drive or two down to the beach and cruise around by the water. The scenery is amazing, and the cars I usually spot are pretty amazing as well. Just like when I lived in Miami, I never know what I’ll see just driving down the road. This past weekend was no different. On Saturday my dad and [...]

Just Scootin’ Around

With the way fuel prices have been the past few years, I’m pretty sure someone who has to put $60 worth of diesel fuel into their Ford Excursion just to get around 10 miles per gallon wouldn’t be the happiest camper in the world. In Gainesville, Florida we have found a perfect solution for those pesky prices at the pump. Yes, the same Gainesville, Florida that is also know as Titletown, USA and home to THE University of Florida (Go Gators!!!). What’s the great idea that has been going on for years here? Scooters. That’s right, scooters. The roughly 50,000 UF students, not to mention the other 15,000 students that [...]

BMW M3 Sleeper Super Car?

Mmm coffee… oh hi, hello there! This is your friendly neighborhood car blogger writing to you in the morning….yes, I said in the morning. How odd, yes, I’m a night owl. Headlights on lets do this. But today I got up (in the morning) and went through some pix that I have been meaning to share with you!
I saw some of this and some of that but this picture I snapped of a red E92 BMW M3 coup just couldn’t be passed over. Not too log ago I was over at Braman BMW, a dealership that has a wonderful selection of cars from the ever popular run about Mini Cooper to [...]

Sarasota Exotic Car Festival 2010

For the past four years I’ve been attending the Sarasota Exotic Car Festival (formerly known as the Ferrari’s on St. Armand’s car show) held at the St. Armand’s Circle shopping center in Sarasota, Florida. This show marks the first event of the Ferrari Club of America (FCA) Florida Region’s calendar year. Every year since I’ve been attending it gets bigger and bigger. You can almost guarantee that there will be something pretty special on display at the show each and every year, like the very rare black Ferrari Enzo on display this year, which belongs to Sarasota’s own Steve White of SS Motorsports of Sarasota (http://www.carsbyss.com/).

In 2007, the two stars [...]

Electronic Design Flaw Linked to Runaway Toyotas

Unless you have been under a rock for the past few months you have heard of Toyota’s automotive troubles. Some of there cars from Toyota and their luxury line Lexus have been just launching out of control and overpowering the breaks, resulting in a few deaths. Some say it’s the floor mats, some say its the actual break lever its self, others are saying that its the onboard computer going haywire. Well, whatever it is I’m sure it’s got to be scary for any Toyota driver on the road right now.
This video from ABC World News Tonight shows professor Dave Gilbert of Southern Illinois University’s auto technology department recreating the [...]

First Annual Pothole 500

With half a cup of coffee down my brain is starting to get into gear. All the random ideas that were floating around in my head now have direction. You could say the pace car has pulled off and we are about to go back to green flag blogging.
What I’ve been thing about for the past 48 hours has been … you guessed it the Daytona 500. Or what some have been calling the Pothole 500 (#pothole500). What a race. It started with such promise. The crashes happened, the favorites led; everything was on track to be a good day of hard racing at the super speedway. But I, like [...]

2010 Cars for the Cure Charity Auto Show

With the Weather Channel promising a beautiful day, and my new Nikon D3000 desperately awaiting its maiden voyage, I thought it would be a perfect day to make the drive to Orlando and check out the 2010 Cars for the Cure charity exotic auto show. The show was located at the wonderful Colonial Town Park in Lake Mary, FL (just outside Orlando), with all proceeds benefiting the American Lung Association. I love auto shows and to me there’s nothing better than an exotic auto show. The icing on the cake was the charity part of it. What better way to spend a Saturday afternoon than checking out some rare, expensive, [...]

Mercedes SLS AMG – You Want This (Video)

In the world of cars there are all kinds of elements to get your butt in the seat. Performance numbers, paint colors, interior options out the wazoo just for starters.
But without adequate TV commercials I don’t think any of us would become as passionate about cars as we do. Its one thing to read about a vehicle, but its a whole other story to see the car of your dreams moving – zooming around a track, drifting around a wet corner, exciting almost all of your senses.
Making you think: I need that car! Even if you don’t.
I saw this video and it made me feel all of the above. The [...]

Top Gear: tests the Lexus LFA – Video

Top Gear: Richard Hammond tests the Lexus LFA
This is an awesome video like a mini movie / video game all about the Lexus LFA
–

–
“It’s even got a spoiler… It’s the real deal!”

***
How does it do on the Top Gear test track?

I know it was wet but goodness only a hair faster then a Chevy Z06? That’s not worth the big bucks as far as I’m concerned.
I’m counting the days till I see one in Miami. I’m sure first I’ll be in shock and wow’d to actually see one- it is quite the engineering marvel, but then I’ll be going wow- that Lexus cost $375.000.
Is it worth it? I say no- [...]
