Epic Surprise at Orlando Cars & Café

By now I’ve realized that without fail something pretty amazing will show up at the monthly Orlando Cars & Café hosted by the Orlando Automotive Club and our good friends at Café Motorsport. The very first time I made the trip to O-Town I got to see the not-yet-on-sale Spyker Aileron, which was only the second time it was in the U.S. Back in May I got to see a Nissan Skyline R34 GT-R for the first time in person. That one was special because I have an unconditional love for all things Skyline. This time, however, even I couldn’t believe what showed up. For the first time in the history of Cars and Café, or Cars and Coffee as they call it around the country, the only Bugatti Veyron Grand Sport “Sang Bleu” made a grand appearance. I will repeat… the ONLY Bugatti Veyron Grand Sport “Sang Bleu” in the entire world, as in Number 1 of 1, ever!

I’ll make a little confession: my good friend Brandon may have tipped me off about a possible Bugatti showing earlier in the week, so you can be sure I wasn’t going to miss this month’s meet. I’ve seen this car twice before, but seeing it out in the public, driving, and at Cars & Café event was even sweeter than the two previous viewings. By now Nelson is sort of a local celebrity among cars enthusiasts in the Orlando area. His stellar collection of exquisite automobiles includes not only this Bugatti, but a Bugatti Veyron “Sang Noir,” a car to which only 5 examples were ever built. He also owns possibly the hottest car on the planet right now, the brand spankin’ new Ferrari 458 Italia. You may remember MyDailyDrive’s coverage of the Launch Party for the new 458 Italia back in May. That car was Rosso Corsa, or red as the Americans call it, but Nelson’s new Ferrari is Giallo Modena a.k.a. Look-At-Me-Yellow. Seeing both cars in person at the same time was pretty incredible. I was fairly speechless for much of the time I was shooting the cars. Only slipping in a word or two, mainly something like, “My goodness this thing is pretty…”

If I were a girl, which I’m definitely not… I think I’d buy one of these and use it as a mirror. Smile Peter, you’re on candid camera!

And now for the Look-At-Me-Yellow Ferrari 458 Italia:

Without distracting myself too much with that insane $3 million Bugatti I got some shots of the other amazing automobiles that were on display. Sitting quietly all by itself was a sexy little Porsche 997 Turbo. The front grille and stock Turbo wheels were painted white on the inside of the spokes which gave it a sleek white on white look. I fell in love with it, as white is my one of my favorite colors on newer supercars. And besides, white is the new black, right? I also made sure to get a special shot for the man who makes MyDailyDrive possible. I took this combo shot of two Nissan GT-R’s just for Jesse. Love ya man!

I also had the opportunity to climb on top of the roof and get some shots from a bird’s eye view of the main display area. You’ll notice something in the middle that’s a bright orange-red, has a huge wing on the back, and looks like a spaceship ready for lift off. What is it? Quick, quick! Hurry up! Ok…. if you don’t know what it is I’ll go ahead and be nice. It’s a Mosler MT900S, owned by Central Florida resident Lee. Lee recently acquired this track monster and was nice enough to bring it out to show everyone. The MT900S is a super light, super powerful car built right here in Florida. It is a special car, and we all thank Lee for bringing out his new toy.

Without a doubt this month’s Orlando Cars & Café was the best I’ve attended, and I plan on attending further events, so long as they don’t interfere with Florida Gator Football ;-) The two hour drive may be a little boring and tiresome, but when I pull up to the The Route 46 Entertainment District and see all the candy colored supercars scattered about it becomes worth it, every time. Two more photos for your viewing pleasure: The Bugatti and Ferrari making their exit, in as grand a fashion as ever.

I’d like to give a special thanks to the entire crew of Café Motorsport for their hospitality in always making the MyDailyDrive team welcome and continuing to give out samples of their winning blends of coffee. They make an amazing day that much better with each trip we make. If you’re in the Orlando area and would like to see some mega cars make sure you check out next month’s Orlando Cars & Café held on Saturday September 25, 2010 at The Route 46 Entertainment District. Thanks again CM!

  1. Thanks for the writeup. Great pics. Who is this Nelson, if you don’t mind?

  2. In regards to wonderful high class cars, the Europeans preserve the crown, due to such legendary brands as Ferrari, Range Rover, Koenigsegg, and Wiesmann. Take joy in high quality, enjoy life.
