According to the Associated press, Dale Earnhardt Jr. is planning on driving, a replica version of his Dad’s number 3 Wrangler sponsored car, in the Nationwide series race at Daytona in July. We’ve all seen him in those Wrangler commercials, I guess it was about time they put the paint on the ride. This will be the first time since he did it twice in 2002 that Jr. will have number 3 on his car.

The car was unveiled today at JR Motorsports on what would have been Dale Sr’s 59th birthday. Jr attended the event with his stepmother, Teresa Iguess setting aside any differences they’ve had in the past.
They were also joined by his father’s long time car owner, Richard Childress. This will be the first time the number 3 has been used on a Sprint Cup Series car since Earnhardt’s death in 2001.
My take… its very cool for Jr. to honor his father aka the “Intimidator”. But maybe I’m just a little too superstitious for this to sit well in my gut.
At least its not the infamous black Goodwrench car. that one would be a little to hard to see going around the track even now.
