Unless you have been under a rock for the past few months you have heard of Toyota’s automotive troubles. Some of there cars from Toyota and their luxury line Lexus have been just launching out of control and overpowering the breaks, resulting in a few deaths. Some say it’s the floor mats, some say its the actual break lever its self, others are saying that its the onboard computer going haywire. Well, whatever it is I’m sure it’s got to be scary for any Toyota driver on the road right now. This video from ABC World News Tonight shows professor Dave Gilbert of Southern Illinois University’s auto technology department recreating [...]

Top Gear: Richard Hammond tests the Lexus LFA This is an awesome video like a mini movie / video game all about the Lexus LFA – – “It’s even got a spoiler… It’s the real deal!” *** How does it do on the Top Gear test track? I know it was wet but goodness only a hair faster then a Chevy Z06? That’s not worth the big bucks as far as I’m concerned. I’m counting the days till I see one in Miami. I’m sure first I’ll be in shock and wow’d to actually see one- it is quite the engineering marvel, but then I’ll be going wow- that Lexus [...]

After chatting briefly with a friend (http://twitter.com/quattroholic) on Twitter about Audi cars I brought up the once live, now dead, Audi r8 v12 TDI super car concept. Yes, a full blown diesel super car. Audi built it and tested it. Check out this cool video Car and Driver magazine took of the concept Audi R8 TDI (Diesel) tooling around Manhattan. The project never went through but this is an amazing car and concept. A super cool, super fast, super green, super car? Audi has the right idea, but when??! When, I say? The people want it now!! You know, if you squint your eyes it looks a lot like the [...]

I do not want to go into a big ol diatribe about how feminine I think the Lexus brand is but… well, this is my blog and it is. The Lexus IS 250 & 350 are mostly a pretty and expensive Toyota. They are the least expensive of the Lexus fleet. The best selling IS-250 has an anemic horsepower rating of just 204 HP. Although Lexus claims its IS cars compete with the BMWs 3 series it just doesn’t add up. Even the lowest level of the 3 series line has 230 HP. Doesn’t sound like a serious match up to me. It’s ok that Lexus has positioned themselves in [...]

I was driving home one day not too far back. It was the usual tough day at work, just want to get home and chill kind of day. With the setting sun in the background I saw and heard very nice black Lexus. Upon further inspection I recognized this fine automobile, as a Lexus IS – something or other. The car had been debadged which only leads me to believe that it is the IS-250 with the 2.5 liter V6 engine pushing a whopping 204 HP. Not the IS-350 with the 3.5 Liter V6 which makes 306 HP. The IS-350 is a) nicer, and b) has more balls horsepower. Besides [...]

Not to long ago you could get your sports car in only two varieties. You could have either the spyder aka soft top convertible, or the hard top coupe. The convertible was for the masses who want the sun shining in on them. They want the accolades, the thumbs up’s, the tanning while driving and all that good stuff. On the flip side there are the true car fans! They want to be protected by the hard top of their sports car. They want the aerodynamics, chassis stiffness, and overall better composure and safety that a hard top sports car provides. When BMW came out with its last gen Z4 [...]
