By now I’ve realized that without fail something pretty amazing will show up at the monthly Orlando Cars & Café hosted by the Orlando Automotive Club and our good friends at Café Motorsport. The very first time I made the trip to O-Town I got to see the not-yet-on-sale Spyker Aileron, which was only the second time it was in the U.S. Back in May I got to see a Nissan Skyline R34 GT-R for the first time in person. That one was special because I have an unconditional love for all things Skyline. This time, however, even I couldn’t believe what showed up. For the first time in the [...]

Breaking NASCAR News:

According to the Associated press, Dale Earnhardt Jr. is planning on driving, a replica version of his Dad’s number 3 Wrangler sponsored car, in the Nationwide series race at Daytona in July. We’ve all seen him in those Wrangler commercials, I guess it was about time they put the paint on the ride. This will be the first time since he did it twice in 2002 that Jr. will have number 3 on his car.

–

–
The car was unveiled today at JR Motorsports on what would have been Dale Sr’s 59th birthday. Jr attended the event with his stepmother, Teresa Iguess setting aside any differences they’ve had in the past.
They were [...]

For the past four years I’ve been attending the Sarasota Exotic Car Festival (formerly known as the Ferrari’s on St. Armand’s car show) held at the St. Armand’s Circle shopping center in Sarasota, Florida. This show marks the first event of the Ferrari Club of America (FCA) Florida Region’s calendar year. Every year since I’ve been attending it gets bigger and bigger. You can almost guarantee that there will be something pretty special on display at the show each and every year, like the very rare black Ferrari Enzo on display this year, which belongs to Sarasota’s own Steve White of SS Motorsports of Sarasota (http://www.carsbyss.com/).

Ok, so I may not be the worlds best uber marketing guru (or maybe I actually am?), but I do know a money opportunity when I see it. And I saw it when I was watching the MTV show Jersey Shore. Now I know there is a lot of hoopla about how Italian Americans are portrayed on the show and I’ll let other blogs go on and on and on about that. Me I’m in it for the idea I saw inked on one of the cast members.

As some but not all of you know Dr. Derek Shepard err…I mean Patrick Dempsey stars in a little show called “Grey’s Anatomy.” Its about doctors- I think a few people watch it. Its cool Patrick, I know you gotta work to pay the bills.
I know that when not acting and being a family man racing is his passion. Co-owner of Vision Racing since 2006 Dempsey first bonded with Vision Racing owners Tony and Laura George after attending the 2004 Indianapolis 500.

After getting a quick look at Danica Patrick’s car we continued our walk through the pits. We got to see Allex Lloyd’s Newman / Haas / Lanigan Racing Indy car getting prepped for the race.

After that we saw Tony Kanaan’s 7-11 Slurpee car getting worked on. Surprisingly there were no slurpies around, nor was Tony there, but it was still cool to see his ride up close. It was a very interesting peek into how the teams worked getting ready for a big race.

It was also interesting to see what the cars looked like with their various body work scattered about. We got to see the nitty-gritty of the cars. [...]

I realized that there were cars all around me going that fast. There were cars that are capable of going even faster just feet from me. Behind us as we were checking out the Polizei 144 M5 the Farnbacher Loles Racing Porsche 911 GT3 RSR that had been behind the wall getting worked on pulled out of its spot and motored down to the split behind the wall to get [...]

After making some calls, some emails, and some more calls we were finally able to procure some tickets to the big race. (Thanks Jay!) J2, Peter, and myself were on our way down to Homestead. Well, after a quick stop at CVS to purchase some earplugs, we were on our way to Homestead.
Driving down to Homestead-Miami Speedway on the Turnpike we saw a bunch of traffic, it was a good sign the races and the day’s events were gonna rock. Nothing better then a packed house. Our aim was to arrive in time to see the grand am cars race on the road course, then grub at the championship BBQ, and [...]

I spotted this electric 2006 Evo IX (9) in a parking lot in South Miami. I love this car! I’ve been a fan of the Evo ever since I learned what it was about. Probably back around the Fast and Furious sequel: 2 Fast 2 Furious back in 2003 (shot in Miami). The star car was a pretty goofy looking 4 door. Big wing, lime green, boxy and pretty mundane looking- even with the cool graphics and Eva Mendes in the passenger seat. I knew there had to be something to this car since it was the star car of the movie.

I did some research and came across this video… [...]

The Bullitt mustang! I caught these shots of one driving down to The Falls mall in Miami.
Before the Fast and the Furious, before (insert other car movie here – but know that there is no better car movie(s) then the fast and furious series) there was Bullitt.
Detective Frank Bullitt was played by a steely eyed Steve McQueen. His brooding character didn’t talk much, but his actions spoke volumes. Especially behind the wheel.

His car, the “good guy / hero car” was a Dark Highland Green 1968 Mustang [...]
