For the past four years I’ve been attending the Sarasota Exotic Car Festival (formerly known as the Ferrari’s on St. Armand’s car show) held at the St. Armand’s Circle shopping center in Sarasota, Florida. This show marks the first event of the Ferrari Club of America (FCA) Florida Region’s calendar year. Every year since I’ve been attending it gets bigger and bigger. You can almost guarantee that there will be something pretty special on display at the show each and every year, like the very rare black Ferrari Enzo on display this year, which belongs to Sarasota’s own Steve White of SS Motorsports of Sarasota (http://www.carsbyss.com/).
A good friend and fellow car nut is looking to get into a new car. We talked about it and he told me that he wants something fun, sporty and with five or six speed manual transmission the total opposite of the little Toyota pick up truck he drives now.
After ooogling Alex Roy’s car, having quick flashes of his book, and imagining racing down a highway in the middle of the US in the middle of the night with no headlights on at 145 mph I snapped back to reality.
After making some calls, some emails,and some more calls we were finally able to procure some tickets to the big race. (Thanks Jay!) J2, Peter, and myself were on our way down to Homestead. Well, after a quick stop at CVS to purchase some earplugs, we were on our way to Homestead. Driving down to Homestead-Miami Speedway on the Turnpike we saw a bunch of traffic, it was a good sign the races and the day’s events were gonna rock. Nothing better then a packed house.
