Breaking news from Longview Texas. According to Edmunds Inside Line the tuning company East Texas Muscle Cars is planning to build a 2010 V6 Camaro (with turbo charging) that can go around the Nurburgring Nordschliefe faster then a Nissan GT-R. But, for a twin turbo v6, the Nissan’s time is fantastic. Now, for this tuned Camaro to take on the GT-R is quite the feat. Inside Line says “The car, currently under development, will initially be a one-off to prove the concept and take the pulse of the market. Built with a forged crank, rods and pistons, the V6 will receive a modified Squires Turbo Systems remote-mount turbocharger kit and produce around 500 horsepower.”
This Camaro is going to have to be a transformer to go transform from American muscle car to true international ring-busting sports car with super car performance. Speaking of super car performance the GT-R and its ATTESA-ETS, aka 4WD, is one major factor that’s makes the handling so good. That and a set of computers that seem to defy the laws of physics all together.
The 638 HP Corvette ZR1, which is what I think these tuners are trying to create with their modified Camaro, is lighter, faster, stronger, and rides on super sticky and massive Michelin Pilot Sport PS2 tires ($300 to $400.00 Each!). The super Corvette also has a much lower center of gravity. The ZR1 just beats the ring into submission with its overwhelming power and kick ass style! (America F*ck Yeah!).
I’m not saying its imossible that this Texas V6 Camaro can’t do it, but I say unlikely. The only Camaro that I think could consider doing this is the Hennessy Camaro with its 705 HP Corvette ZR1 underpinnings.

Anyway I know for a fact cause I can predict the future that East Texas Muscle Cars is not going to be able to beat the Nissan with just 500 HP. They are going to need some kind of trump card. Either 600+ HP, racing tires, NOS or some kind of ridiculous and unrealistic aero package.

Funny thing is that companies do stunts like this for publicity. I think their called publicity stunts. Well, this one is working. The web is all a twitter (did I just say that) about this ambitious project.
We’ll just have to stay tuned and see.
