Man, I do love my orange cars! When I see one coming I think ” this is going to be something special” and it usually is. With the unmistakable face of a Porsche, you know its going to be a limited track tuned mini monster. That’s exactly what it was.
Cruising down US 1 on a bright sunny afternoon I saw just that, a dot of German flair screaming for attention. At first it was far away so I could only guess which Porsche it was. I was thinking 911 GT3 RS as it was the first of the P cars to get the “orange all over” treatment back in 2006.
After the car got a tad closer I could see it was the 2009 Porsche Cayman S Sport. With the ‘lets get it on’ orange paint job, and black multi spoke alloy wheels this S Sport stands out from other little gators.
The horse power in this baby bad boy gets nudged up to 303, churned via six speed from a flat 6 cylinder 3.4 liter boxer style engine. The car has been tuned for sport and is just a hair lower to the ground- all for improved track performance, which, I have learned lately is important for the street as well.
Weaving around shredded semi truck tires, bumpers, and people going ridiculously slow in the fast lane are all things that we Miami drivers have to do daily. Such quick maneuvers and high speed perils used to only be the domain of sport drivers on race tracks, but now we all have to drive like that to arrive home safely every day…
But I digress.
Only 700 units of this Sport S Caymen will be made. And no, it won’t only be orange, you can also get it in the Baskin Robins flavors of; Gt3 RS Green, Black, Guards Red, Speed Yellow and Carrera White, as well as Arctic Silver Metallic- available at extra cost of course.
I love the way the color stands out its like a poisan dart frog. Brightly colored as to broadcast its lethality.
“If you mess with me you will die!” I think that’s why I like bright colors. It advertises “bring it on … you will lose!”
Look at the orange next to the drab daily cars on the So-Flo streets. Who wants to blend in? Let the bright colors shine, its Miami for goodness sake!

I never thought I would agree with this opinion ,but I’m starting to see things differently.
