2010 Cars for the Cure Charity Auto Show

With the Weather Channel promising a beautiful day, and my new Nikon D3000 desperately awaiting its maiden voyage, I thought it would be a perfect day to make the drive to Orlando and check out the 2010 Cars for the Cure charity exotic auto show. The show was located at the wonderful Colonial Town Park in Lake Mary, FL (just outside Orlando), with all proceeds benefiting the American Lung Association. I love auto shows and to me there’s nothing better than an exotic auto show. The icing on the cake was the charity part of it. What better way to spend a Saturday afternoon than checking out some rare, expensive, and exclusive cars knowing that all the money goes to a great organization? There isn’t one!

The show did not disappoint either. Aside from the Porsches, Ferraris, and Lamborghinis, two very special vehicles made a grand appearance. Most notably, the only Bugatti Veyron Grand Sport “Sang Bleu” in existence. Yep, you read that right. The ONLY one in the world. This is a one-off custom built Veyron Grand Sport that was unveiled at the 2009 Pebble Beach Concours. Estimated value you ask? How about a cool $3.5 million. The chrome and blue carbon fiber body shined in the Central Florida sun. Most of the spectators had no clue what they were looking at, but they knew it was special. Sitting nicely right next to the “Sang Bleu” was another Bugatti Veyron. This one was the “Sang Noir” edition, which pays homage to the Bugatti Atlantique 57S from the 1930’s. After some quick research, the term “Sang Noir” means “black blood,” and fittingly this particular Veyron is finished with black carbon fiber for the body, black wheels, blacked out headlights, and a bright orange colored interior. The production run for the “Sang Noir” is a more subtle 15 units. Expectedly, the Bugatti Veyron Grand Sport “Sang Bleu” took the Best of Show award.

Some of my personal favorites from the show were a really mean looking gunmetal grey Lamborghini Gallardo Superleggera with black aftermarket wheels and lime green brake calipers, and a black Toyota Supra that was professionally modified by Titan Motorsports. The Supra had a turbo sticking out that looked like it could pull my face off. I estimate an easy 1,000 horsepower. Another nice ride was a yellow Ferrari 360 Modena with a full body kit, black wheels, and a cool black racing stripe that went from the nose all the way the rear and over the wing.

I would like to thank the many sponsors, organizers, and volunteers that made this year’s show such a hit. If you’d like to learn more about the American Lung Association or for information on how you can donate to this organization, check out their website: http://www.lungusa.org/.
