Hello boys and girls, I’ve got some news for ya. Eww news… yeah I know. It’s cool news I swear. If you live in South Florida, love cars, and Hip Hop music a rockin’ car show is coming to town. The creators of DUB Magazine, which covers urban custom car culture and has features on celebrities with their cars brings the magazine to life in Miami this Saturday. Formally named:
“The Monster Energy Dub Show Tour 09 Custom Auto Show & Concert Presented by Tag”
That’s a mouth full.
The Dub car show is a party on wheels … well, a party with wheels. The event, a car show and concert that travels around the country will be blessing Miami this Saturday (9/26/09).
The show will have lots of wild cool and sexy things to look at, and that’s just the car show models. Photographers flock to them more than they do the cars. It’s funny to watch. You’ll see a huge commotion over somewhere and go look. It’s usually three lovely Miami car show models in one place. You’d think Diddy just walked in or something.
As for the cars, I’ve seen every thing from a Pink Range Rover, to Paris Hilton’s Mercedes Benz SLR McLaren. A donk limousine or 28’s and a 1969 Chevy Camaro with a 2008 corvette LS 6 engine in it. That was just last year!
Local South Florida car clubs and shops also represent. Keep a look out for MCP Racing- they have the lock on the custom BMW tuner scene. Also, clubs with Japanese imports like Hi-Profile I’m sure will be in the house to show off the latest in automotive hotness.
Along with the car show models and the cars will be a live concert featuring some of Miami’s best hip-hop talent. The biggest boss Rick Ross will be in the house performing with his group on the come up Triple C. Brisco and Pleasure P will also will also be providing a Miami style hip hop and R&B vibe to the show.
What to expect when you arrive at the car show? Let me tell you its quite the sight. You’ll walk up to the Miami Beach Convention Center and see a line of people. Lots of people- so get there early (4pm sharp). In the parking lots and even parked right out front of the convention center you will see lots of awesome cars – and that’s before you’ve even bought your ticket.
After you get in you’ll see so many cars you wont know where to go. Car after, car after car. Each exhibitor, whether a lone wolf or part of a crew, has spent hours getting their car ready and then getting their booth ready.
You’ll see some cars with lots of cotton puffs around the wheels. To make ‘em look like they’re floating? I’ve never been able to figure this out but I see some people do it. Hey- to each their own. You’ll be bombarded with all kinds of music. DJ’s all around the event will be playing mostly hip-hop. I don’t have a problem with that. But some times it’s so loud you can’t think.
My advice, just focus. If you’re into cars like me you will see some gems!!
I like the Dub show because its different than the other popular custom car show that comes to Miami the HIN show. Both are special. I find that HIN is more nightclub less car show. Fun in a very different way. They have the lights off and its hard to see… see anything… especially the cars. The Dub guys: they keep the lights on so you can see the entire goings on. You know you like it with the lights on.
There will be food (expensive), there will be models (don’t let them distract you from the cars), and there will be a concert (with the head liners at the end of the event).
Dub show checklist:
1) Do arrive early – beat the pack and get a good parking spot.
2) Don’t forget your camera. That includes your digital memory and batteries. There will be lots to take pictures of.
3) Do be ready for a crowd- that place gets packed.
4) Do let the owner of a car that you like know that you think their car is cool. They do it for the love- let them know you appreciate their work.
5) Do enjoy all the goodies! The place will be filled with promo this and swag that. I’m sure lots of key chains, lanyards, and all the monster energy drink you can gulp down.
6) Don’t spend too much time focused on models and their posters. Go for a photo with the model and leave the posters behind- you don’t want your hands full of bulky posters as you’re trying to get a shot of your dream car.
